Head-on Crash Knocks Out Power in Missoula

A power pole was toppled by a Missoula crash involving an SUV and a pickup truck early Wednesday morning. The accident is reported to have occurred at the intersection of Burns and Phillips streets.

Missoula Police said the power pole was damaged after the two vehicles collided head-on and one of the vehicles struck the pole. Firefighters, EMS, and NorthWestern Energy technicians all responded to the scene of the accident. The crash happened just before 10 a.m. Wednesday morning.

“I don’t yet have information about possible injuries or their status,” said Detective Travis Welsh of the Missoula Police. He then confirmed that every person involved in the crash was transported to nearby medical facilities. Both the SUV and pickup truck are said to have suffered substantial damage.

The damaged power pole did not affect energy output to the neighborhood. Streetlights, however, were knocked out for a hours.
