Missoula Streets Covered in Snow and Ice

Last week, we wrote about a possible storm that could blanket much of Montana in ice and snow.  This storm came and did just that!  Missoula was especially hit hard.  Snow removal crews have been working tirelessly to plow affected areas.  One Missoula resident, Rita Hackett commented to NBC Montana, “I’m just trying to get my laundry done today, but I can’t get out of my parking space on the public street.”  The snow and ice have presented a challenge for many as they try to go about their daily activities.

Many areas are still having troubles getting their snow removed.  Fortunately, these requests for snow removal are not going unnoticed.  Brian Hensel, the city street division superintendent, commented to NBC Montana saying they were “overwhelmed with phone calls and requests to get areas plowed.”  He also said that they were doing the best they could.  Hensel also pointed out that if it did snow more “then we will have to start over, so it’s a lot of work to do.”

Sometimes, with some streets cleared and other streets still covered in snow and ice, it can become challenging to navigate certain areas of the city.  At The Advocates Law, we strongly urge drivers to use caution when driving on slick roads.  While some may be clear, there is still the possibility of black ice and other potential dangers that should be considered.  Remember that driving slow is a good policy to avoid potential road hazards, whether these be snow, ice, winter potholes, etc.  According to an article found on AAA’s website, pressing on the gas slowly to accelerate and decelerate is the best method to gain traction and to avoid sliding.  Driving slowly can also give you additional time to maneuver and react.

If you have any questions regarding winter driving or any accident that might have occurred because of another person’s negligence, feel free to call The Advocates Law.  We offer free consultations.  We can resolve any doubts that you might have about winter driving or winter accidents.  We are available 24/7, and the call is always free.
