One Accident After Another Causes Hwy 93 Traffic Jam

truck accident

Traffic between Missoula and Lolo was delayed for hours Monday afternoon after one accident after another closes down a Montana highway. The accidents took place along Highway 93 just north of Lolo, Montana. Both the northbound and southbound lanes were backed up for miles.

Trooper Nick Navarro of the Montana Highway Patrol described the two wrecks to Fox MT News. The first accident took place around 5 p.m. after a woman driving a pickup truck lost control, struck a guardrail, and flipped over. The driver was, unfortunately, not wearing a seatbelt and was rushed to St. Patrick Hospital to treat her injuries. The wreckage from the accident blocked the northbound lane.

The second accident took place when an unrelated driver swerved to miss the wrecked truck from the first accident. This driver then crossed into the southbound and struck another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. No injuries were reported in this accident. The wreckage from this accident then blocked the southbound lane.

Montana Department of Transportation was finally able to clear the wreckage from the two accidents shortly after 6 p.m. Traffic, however, remained backed up along Highway 93 until well into the evening.
